Astrophysics Forum

We organize the efforts of SMD E/PO mission and granted programs into a coordinated effort that effectively uses NASA’s science discoveries and learning experiences to advance public understanding of the universe and inspire the next generation of explorers.

The Astrophysics Forum is one of four science education and public outreach forums working closely with NASA’s Science Mission Directorate (SMD) to coordinate and support its education and public outreach community.  The other three forums are Earth Science, Heliophysics, and Planetary Science.

Within Astrophysics, we work with more than 100 scientists, educators, and outreach specialists charged with sharing the science, the story, and the adventure of NASA’s Astrophysics missions and research programs with educators, students, and the public.

The Astrophysics Forum facilitates collaborations to help weave products/programs together into an integrated STEM-focused effort.  In doing so, we leverage resources, identify best practices, highlight gaps to address, and broaden the impact of the NASA astrophysics education and outreach resources.

Through these coordinated efforts, the NASA SMD is working to achieve coherence within its education and public outreach portfolio with more effective, sustainable, and efficient utilization of its science discoveries and learning experiences.

What We Do:

Support and facilitate communication, collaboration, and identification of best practices.
